World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example an item with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost increases as the item level rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

upgrade item components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before the component can be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with fewer Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level using normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the defense or upgrade items attack properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade items crystals.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher tier version of the item will be available at the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their equipment even in the event that they don't know how much it will be improved after an update.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a high chance that the item could become obsolete or even break when it fails; a failed upgrade will destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.

In the endgame you'll find that the best way to enhance your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and give an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs, upgrade items you will need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that boosts a particular set of stat nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different amount of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could be more expensive even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with a level 1 base and a different set of bonus bonuses. This is useful for some items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it could waste a lot of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like dolphins). This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A perfectly rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting to its original state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like chances to be crit damage to attack, additional effects (such as increased heal over time, or reloading speed). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in its crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade item is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to the value of the base item. For instance, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items might have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For example they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade items. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade requires the use of different upgrade ingredients.
