World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade item template that ends in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before a component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment with the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or getting them from enemies while upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of an item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure what will be improved following an update.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a high risk that the item may be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failure to upgrade can ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chances of failure, and a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible up to 15 levels.

In the endgame, you will often find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade item component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Utilizing Glyphs Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, so it is recommended to position your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. For instance, a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes but you should also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes too.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item upgrade is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced with a different Item Upgrader Mod of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item level upgrade will also have its own set bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't need it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, with an initial level and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful but it should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player is repeatedly in or exits water. The item can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is very valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to boost the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition, the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, and all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or speed of reload). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its value. For instance, a common item upgrader mod might have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items might have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For example, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Players will still have to carry every piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the expenses mentioned above.
