The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it was able to clean baking powder near corners and baseboards. Its suction of 2,500 Pa was a little weaker than some other robots, however, it moved swiftly and was extremely quiet. It didn't mop, however and its cleaning pads were a bit difficult to attach and didn't deal with dried-on dirt.

Its app is a little basic with no advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It does work with Alexa, but its voice controls aren't intuitive or responsive. It's also a little erratic when it returns to the charging station following a run. Other robots can follow an obstruction or follow a previous route however the RX3 stumbles around until it quits.

Another issue we had was with its clever features, particularly the mapping function and digital keep-out zones. While it did a decent job of keeping away from our shoes and furniture legs however, it was easily hung up by cables and socks, and couldn't handle the tassels that adorn rug. This is the reason we decided not to include it in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth a look as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
