World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to boost the stats of an item upgrade. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item level upgrade gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. The value is the sum of all the leveled up perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the number of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.

Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all tooltips for items. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the item level. It's a measure of the item's condition and quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories about how the calculation of the item's level is carried out. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real item upgrade level.

It's not the only factor that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may change its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may boost its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by naming them.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll attaches. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will have at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties created by loot and the strength of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful for early game runs, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item level upgrade's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of the item up to 140.

Moreover some items, such as the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which success rates can be increased and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The Luck of an item can also influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each Best item upgrade has an initial success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are displayed above items in the inventory. This could cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
