It should be carefully analyzed before it is used in research or evaluation.

Despite its limitations the DCT is a valuable tool to investigate the relationship between prosody, information structure and non-native speakers. The ability to manipulate the social variables that are relevant to politeness in two or more steps could be a benefit. This feature can be used to study the impact of prosody in different cultural contexts.

In the field of linguistics DCT is one of the most effective tools used to study the behavior of communication learners. It can be used to examine a variety of issues, including politeness, turn-taking, and lexical selection. It can also be used to determine the phonological complexity of the learners speaking.

Recent research used a DCT as tool to evaluate the ability to resist of EFL students. Participants were presented with various scenarios and were asked to select an appropriate response from the options offered. These findings have implications for pedagogy for L2 Korean assessment.

The MQ data was first analyzed to determine the participants' actual choices. The data were categorized according to Ishihara's (2010) definition of pragmatic resistance. Then, we compared their choices with their linguistic performance on DCTs to determine if they are indicative of a pragmatic resistance. In addition, the interviewees were asked to explain their choices of behavior in a particular scenario.

The participants were asked to complete the DCTs and MQs either in their L1 or L2 levels. They were then invited to an RI where they were asked to think about and discuss their responses to each DCT scenario.

The results showed that CLKs, on average, did not adhere to the patterns of native speakers in more than 40 percent of their responses. They did this despite the fact that they could produce patterns that were similar to natives. They were aware of their practical resistance. They attributed their resistance to learner-internal variables such as their personality and multilingual identities. They also mentioned external factors, such as relational benefits. They also discussed, for instance, how their interactions with their professors helped them to function more easily in terms of the cultural and linguistic expectations of their university.

However, the interviewees also expressed concern about the social pressures and consequences they could be subject to if they violated their local social norms. They were worried that their native friends would think they are "foreigners" and believe they are unintelligent. These findings suggest that native-speakers pragmatic norms aren't the norm for Korean learners. They may still be useful for official Korean proficiency testing.
