Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, commonly referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment provides a linear increase in any stat.

Players can recycle six items at one time to gain a gauge for each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats on your armor and weapons. This can be done through many different methods, including using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. Additionally there are many items that can be reforged, which could boost their stats even more.

There are items that can be upgraded throughout the game. They are available in all over the world and are rewards for missions. Players can also make them. Upgrade components are the most common way to upgrade equipment. These are the items that slot into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and most require a certain level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components provide specific bonuses while others give a general bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gems and enchantments, are able to be used in any equipment type and offer less bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and offer various bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. It will show the expected statistics after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show Blocked if you don't have enough of either.

The number of upgrade components required for a given item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but can be reduced using many different methods, including purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them with other players.

Most weapons can be improved by a prefix such as a rune or an insignia, and others can be improved with the suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the item's name like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are a way to convey information via visuals. They move to draw the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language and makes them more effective in communicating an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could enhance a stat, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This is not the actual amount by which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount by which it is able to do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you are creating it for.

Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use, but it hasn't been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

You can remove the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item in which it is installed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards, therefore it should not be considered as a loss.

Adding a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you take it down. You can also add the glyph to your equipment to give it an extra benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer instead of all at one time. This is helpful for those who take a lot damage from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes of weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, including mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token grants players a new random affix that is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be a good method to reroll the stats of a weapon that can be upgraded to increase damage or additional perks.

Rerolled items do not appear on the menu for item upgrades, but they can be upgraded. When you press the "upgrade button", you can recycle the rerolled items. This will change the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity and its level, which means items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it rolls higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.

Rerolls are a good option for upgrading an item, however, players should be aware that it could reduce the total ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls used in order to increase it to its final ilvl. This effect is most noticeable on rings and Diadems, since they have no other options to raise the ilvl.

Some players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's better to let people pay for it using money or food items, which allows players to make changes to their builds without having to spend too much time. However, paid rerolls are not something that the developers would like to implement at this time in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to add an ability to change races in the near future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the value of upgrading any stat. The alternative is to increase the impact of the upgrade, which can increase the healing or damage for a stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel, but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.

It is important to remember that upgrades can be random. Most of the time the Best item upgrader roll will be derived from glyphs, however there are also chances for greater or special rolls. Additionally the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the item type, so if you upgrade a rare or unusual item to a unique type you could achieve a higher iLevel.

Upgrades can be costly particularly if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the iLevel it's built upon as well as the number of levels to upgrade. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests to achieve the next upgrade level.

If you're fortunate, your upgraded item may get to the top of its upgrade item track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by +3.

Based on the item's base level and its upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change as well. For example, an item that is upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an outstanding one can be expected to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
