1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum and mop robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and best robot hoover future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaner reviews that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
