Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items (click through the next page) allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.

Typically, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an added bonus or effect when the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the necessary component or materials.

There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions are jewels that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same benefits as jewels, but cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of item names. For example the addition of a Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant differences from earlier versions. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

This will allow the item upgrades to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.

When a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available depends on the item's base. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a base that is standard will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade step requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of material but will result in a lower chance of success.

To determine the height of a building engineers utilize an instrument to compare the measurement to an established reference point such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod before turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing an item upgrade's upgrade components. It is a very important aspect of the game and can improve the damage, strength or other characteristics. It is possible to do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be handled with care.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item upgrader, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level that has been filled.

In the past, some upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more often than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each statistic. This can be a great or a negative thing dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item could come with a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also comes with number sets that grant an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on a unit. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They can be different sizes, contain none of the elements, or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.

There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while some are not. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense value and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.

Certain set items are upgraded to meet their unique procs that can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and upgrade items Level requirements were also increased).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to par with the different tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.

To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button in the screen of their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when they are fully updated. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs for spells or weapons, upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will provide a significant increase in their power. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade item, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
